Warning: Correspondence misusing the name of Jaffe Porter Crossick LLP

Correspondence has been sent misusing the names of Michael Cohen and Jaffe Porter Crossick LLP (JPC Law and/or JPC) in response to reviews left on a third-party customer review website.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that correspondence has been sent, misusing the name of genuine solicitor and a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). We understand that the correspondence was in response to reviews left on a third-party customer review website, where the recipient was advised that if their review was not removed then legal action would be taken.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Jaffe Porter Crossick LLP which trades as JPC and/or JPC Law. Micheal Cohen is a consultant solicitor at the firm.
The firm's head office address is Omni House, 252 Belsize Road, London, NW6 4BT and its email domain is @jpclaw.co.uk. The contact number for the firm is 020 7625 4424 and the firm's website address is http://www.jpclaw.co.uk.
Both Jaffe Porter Crossick LLP and Micheal Cohen have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the correspondence referred to above.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
