Warning: Document purporting to be from 'Milestone Lawyers Company' misusing the name and details of Milestone Solicitors Limited and Uma Rajasundram

A stamped document purporting to be from 'Milestone Lawyers Company' is misusing the name and details of Milestone Solicitors Limited and Uma Devi Rajasundram, in relation to recovery of lost investment funds.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen a document named 'Chargeback Application' falsely purporting to be from a genuine solicitor (see details below) of a genuine firm of solicitors (see details below). The document was sent to a member of the public stating that 'Ethan Averado' an 'Executive Lawyer' will be assisting the individual in retrieving lost investment funds.

The document misuses the genuine firm of solicitor's address (see details below) and includes the telephone numbers '+447438381313', '+41779210846', '+420735508678' and email address 'info@milestone-lawyers.com'. The document was stamped 'Milestone Lawyers Company Est 2015'.

This document also misuses the name of a genuine solicitor (see details below) and contains a signature which is believed to be fraudulent.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors by the name 'Milestone Lawyers Company' or an individual with the name 'Ethan Averado'.

Any business or transactions through 'Milestone Lawyers Company', contact details and email address is not undertaken by a solicitor or firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Milestone Solicitors Limited. The firms head office address is Ludgate House, 107 Fleet Street, London, EC4A 2AB, England. The genuine email domain of the firm is @milestonesolicitorsltd.com, and the telephone number is 02035000385. The firm's website is www.milestonesolicitorsltd.com.

The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Uma Devi Rajasundram, whose SRA ID is 460172. The genuine Uma Devi Rajasundram is a Director at the genuine firm of solicitor's Milestone Solicitors Limited.

The genuine firm and the genuine individual have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the document, contact details or email address referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
