An email has been sent misusing the name and SRA number of Cedric Tang purporting to be from Bridge Trustees Limited
What is the scam?
The SRA has seen an email claiming to be from Cedric Tang purporting to be from Bridge Trustees Limited. The sender claims it relates to a 'Reclaim Fund' connected to an alleged 'Insta Finance case'. The recipient is told that they are entitled to funds and is asked to provide a copy of a 'valid identity document'. The email falsely claims the identity document is needed to verify details and complete paperwork to release supposed funds owed to the recipient
The email misuses the genuine solicitor's SRA number 7161632 (see genuine solicitor's details below) and is sent from the email address support@bridge-trustees.com and contains a telephone number +44 7458 114116 and website https://bridge-trustees.com.
The email also misuses the address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see genuine firm's details below).
Any business or transactions through any of the above email address, telephone number and website are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Bridge Trustees Limited (SRA ID 79795). The genuine firm uses the email domain @eversheds.com and telephone number 08454979797 and their office address is 115 Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 3AL. The firm has confirmed they have no connection to the above alert
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Cedric Tang (SRA number 7161632) who has also confirmed that they have no connection to the above alert.
Bridge Trustees Limited has further confirmed that Cedric Tang is not associated with their firm.
What should I do?
